What gutter cleaning and downspout flushing includes
The standard service removes accessible debris from the gutter channel and flushes the downspouts to check normal water flow. If a downspout or underground drain line has a heavier obstruction that requires extra tools or time, Kyle explains the additional work before proceeding.
Current gutter-service pricing
Gutter cleaning and standard downspout flushing are $1.50 per linear foot. Required removal and reinstallation of the customer’s existing gutter guards is $0.50 per linear foot. Optional exterior gutter brightening is $2.00 per linear foot. The $150 minimum service charge still applies to a scheduled visit.
Existing gutter guards require extra work
When the customer's existing guards block access to the gutter channel, they must be temporarily removed and those same guards put back after cleaning. This required add-on is priced separately by the linear foot. First In Response Exteriors does not sell or install new gutter guards.
Cleanout and gutter brightening are different services
A gutter cleanout addresses debris inside the system and standard downspout flow. Gutter brightening treats visible oxidation-like striping and organic staining on the exterior face. Kyle reviews the condition first because permanent fading, damaged coatings, and some discoloration may remain.
Gutter guards reduce debris—but do not eliminate maintenance
Existing gutter guards can reduce the amount of debris entering the channel, but roof grit, seeds, needles, leaves, and organic buildup can still collect on or beneath them. Guards do not make a gutter system maintenance-free, and they may need to be removed and reinstalled so the channel can be cleaned properly.

Do gutter guards change the service?
Yes, when they block access to the gutter channel. In that situation, temporarily removing the customer’s existing guards and putting those same guards back is a required add-on priced by the linear foot. First In Response Exteriors does not sell or install new gutter guards.
Do gutter guards mean my gutters never need cleaning?
No. Gutter guards reduce some debris, but roof grit, seeds, needles, leaves, and organic buildup can still collect on or beneath them. The system should still be checked, and guard removal and reinstallation may be required to clean the channel properly.
Is gutter brightening the same as a cleanout?
No. A cleanout removes debris from inside the gutter system. Brightening treats visible staining on the outside face.
Are downspouts flushed with gutter cleaning?
Yes. Standard downspout flushing is included with gutter cleaning. Additional clog-clearing may apply when a downspout is blocked and needs extra work.
What if a clog is below the downspout?
Underground downspout and French-drain flushing are separate services. Kyle can review the drainage layout and explain the appropriate next step if normal gutter and downspout flushing does not restore flow.
How often should gutters be checked?
The right timing depends on nearby trees, roof debris, storms, gutter guards, and how the system drains. Homes under mature trees may need attention more often than open properties. Kyle can recommend a practical interval after seeing the system.
Will you show me what was removed?
Before-and-after photos or video can be provided when practical so you can see the condition of the gutter channel and the completed work.
Do I need to be home for gutter cleaning?
Usually not, as long as Kyle has safe exterior access, unlocked gates, a working outdoor water spigot, and any property concerns in advance. People, pets, vehicles, and fragile items should remain clear of ladder and runoff areas.
